When VPS Provider makes sense
Short jobs
A benchmark, a migration, a load test or a big build. Rent the machine for a day or a week instead of a whole month plus a setup fee.
Users outside Central Europe
Cyprus is closer to Southern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Texas serves the Americas.
Odd sizes
A virtual machine with exactly the vCPUs, memory and storage you need, when no fixed plan fits.
Where Hetzner is the better choice
A fair comparison says both sides. Choose Hetzner when one of these matters more to you.
Central and Northern Europe
Hetzner's dedicated servers are in Germany and Finland, closer to users in Central and Northern Europe than Cyprus.
A much larger catalogue
Hetzner offers many more configurations, storage servers and a Server Auction of used machines at lower prices.
Decades of track record
Hetzner has been in business since 1997. If a long history matters most to you, that is a real advantage.
Questions
Is VPS Provider cheaper than Hetzner?
For a full month on the same hardware the price is the same, but VPS Provider has no setup fee. For a few days or a week VPS Provider costs less, because you pay only for the days you use. For longer rentals the monthly price matches Hetzner, without the setup fee.
Is the hardware the same?
Each VPS Provider server uses the same processor, memory and drive configuration as the Hetzner model listed next to it. Your server runs in our own server rooms in Cyprus and Texas.
Can I move from Hetzner to VPS Provider?
Yes. You get a server with Linux installed and root access over SSH, so you can copy your data and configuration the same way you would between any two servers.
How do you compare with OVHcloud?
OVHcloud bills its dedicated servers by the month, and its Kimsufi range charges an installation fee equal to one month's rent. See the OVHcloud comparison.
